When the CDC talks about "red states," it's not talking politics
Opioids—prescription and illicit—are the main driver of drug overdose deaths. In 2015, the five states with the highest rates of death due to drug overdose were West Virginia, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Ohio and Rhode Island.
